The next “Report on Meeting,” dated June 12, 1978, focuses on the meetings Stasi officer Hoffmann had with Fries while the GDR Writers Congress was underway, May 29-31, 1978. According to the handwritten report that Hoffmann completed on the basis of information Fries provided orally, they had three meetings in Berlin at the Hotel Stadt Berlin and the Palace of the Republic, the seat of the parliament of the GDR. Evaluation of meetings:
Reports/Information on meetings were submitted to Main Department XX/7 for evaluation, since a colleague from Main Department XX/7 was assigned to active duty at the Congress.
The IM provided verified information and a report on the plans and intentions of the American literary scholar, Dr. Zipser.
